- Completes Case Report Forms in conjunction with the PI and/or Manager and/or Coordinator
- Processes and submits forms to Research Ethics Board (REB)
- Prepares specimens for shipment, as applicable
- Contacts study subjects to book diagnostic/clinical tests, assessments and appointments
- Administers, scores and records results for study tests (e.g. questionnaires)
- Assists with subject screening by accessing patient charts
- Notifies lab services and pharmacy of upcoming research visits
- Assists with study startup by liaising with Sponsors for regulatory document requirements
- Acts as a point of contact by providing information or direction when answering, screening and referring telephone calls, emails, faxes and/or in-person inquiries
- Replies to routine correspondence and composes and edits letters, documents and general memoranda
- Orders, maintains and monitors offices supplies
- Attends, records and distributes minutes for meetings
- Coordinates incoming and outgoing mail and arranges for courier services
- Processes invoices and financial payments
- Acquires signatures for regulatory documents
- Collects data related to study
- Develops and maintains filing systems for subject and study documentation
- Files study documents, test results, etc
- Develops and maintains methods of tracking information through databases and spreadsheets
- Archives documentation related to study once it has closed and develops and maintains a method of retrieval from storage
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in a Health Science and/or Science related field, or completed post-secondary education in a Health Science and/or Science related field required
- Two years’ research related experience preferred
- CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) or CCRA (Certified Clinical Research Associate) an asset
- TCPS2: CORE Certification considered an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), email and internet
- Proficiency with current Capital Health systems (STAR, PHS and/or LIS) an asset
- Effective communication, problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to draft, format and edit office correspondence
- Well developed organizational, time management and daily planning skills
- Ability to work well independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Two years related experience preferred
- Previous experience in a health care/research setting is an asset
- This is a full-time, long assignment
- Term is July 2024 - July 2025 (dates subject to change)

About the Opportunity
The Division of Cardiology has a large research portfolio, with several predominant areas of research including Interventional and Coronary Artery Disease (iCAD), Heart Rhythm, Heart Function and Transplant, Health Services and Heath Outcomes research. At any one time approximately 50-60 projects are being conducted in various stages and areas of research. Our offices are located in the Halifax Infirmary. In addition to office-based work on databases and project management, research activities take place within our outpatient clinics, procedure labs, inpatient areas, and pre-assessment clinics. There is ongoing collaboration between our entire research team, the Cardiologists, and various health service departments such as Pharmacy, Diagnostic Imagining and Blood Collection. The Research Assistant reports directly to the Research Manager and is under the direction of the Research Coordinator(s) to facilitate the execution of research studies and clinical trial protocols. This position provides ongoing training and educational opportunities as it relates to research and Cardiology and offers the opportunity for advancement.

Compensation and Incentives
$22.35 - $27.93 Hourly ($43,564 - $54,455 Annually)
