Overview
The Research Assistant I will be responsible for providing research support to a neurological principal investigator and the head of Kennedy Krieger Institute-Johns Hopkins Medicine Sturge-Weber Syndrome Center. The Research Assistant I will perform a variety of duties in support of the research goals, objectives and protocols while functioning within the Neurology & Developmental Medicine Practice.
Responsibilities
1. Assist in clinical research studies of Sturge-Weber Syndrome.a. Organize research involving collecting measures according to research protocol from subject, subjects’ parents, and clinic staff at designated intervals.b. Collaborate with research participants at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and interaction with patients and families.2. Assist with the coordination and communications of research projects in accordance with the funding agency’s award statement, including the recruitment of participants, and implementation of all aspects of study protocols.3. Assist with telephone screenings and schedule research subjects for evaluations.4. Maintain a schedule for research appointments.5. Assist the Team with subject recruitment activities (mailings, posting fliers, contacting outside agencies, etc.) 6. Score research assessments, check scoring, and enter data into databases.7. Obtain and track medical records for research subjects.8. Assist with writing up procedure sheets for research protocols along with developing data sheets, and other research related forms.9. Assist with the acquisition and maintenance of all data collected for research studies.10. Assist with developing databases and tracking data.11. Assist with training new staff, students, and volunteers on all aspects of the research protocols.12. Assist with literature reviews, and writing up the results of ongoing studies, including submissions to conferences, peer-reviewed publications, and grants.13. Assist with the preparation of presentations to internal and external outside agencies for educational and recruitment purposes.14. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:• BA/BS in biology, chemistry, physics or subfield required.
EXPERIENCE:• 1 year experience with biomedical or social research experience preferred.• Familiarity with child development and knowledge of human genetics is preferred. • Must have one-year supervisory experience.
RELATED TRAINING:• Must be proficient with MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint as well as other business and research-related software and applications.
Minimum pay range
USD $39,747.76/Yr.Maximum pay range
