      Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant with a psychology background to join a new NIHR-funded project: Enhancing the quality of interactions between parents with psychosis and their young children; a feasibility RCT of video feedback (ENHANCE). Hosted by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, in collaboration with the University of Oxford and sites in London (City, St Georges) and Leicestershire Partnership Trust, this feasibility trial will adapt the intervention for this patient group and establish parameters for a larger trial assessing the impact of video feedback on parentchild interactions and outcomes. The post holder will promote the study across community teams (Early Intervention, Perinatal, Adult Mental Health), recruit and consent participants, and conduct clinical assessments and structured interviews pre- and post-intervention. They will also extract treatment and service use data from medical records and work closely with the site PI and the Oxfordshire-based research assistant. Oxford Health NHS FT and LPT have a vibrant research community, offering opportunities to contribute to publications, conferences, and team meetings, as well as gain broader clinical experience and career development.

      Main duties of the job

This role supports the ENHANCE research project, working closely with the Chief Investigator, LPT site lead, Oxford Health colleagues, and the Lived Experience Advisory Group. The post holder will engage with staff and participants, recruit and consent parents, and collect interview, questionnaire, and short video data with parents and young children under CI supervision, typically in clinic rooms or participants homes. They will extract treatment and service use data from electronic patient records in Leicestershire, contribute to qualitative data analysis, and support data entry, database maintenance, and preparation of anonymised monitoring reports. The role includes attending training, contributing to newsletters, papers, and conference presentations, and receiving regular research supervision. Post holders will act as ambassadors for research, promoting its value to clinicians, patients, and the NHS, ensuring participant wellbeing, and providing specialist trial information. Responsibilities include obtaining valid informed consent, assessing eligibility, supporting participants and families, assisting with interventions, and ensuring studies follow Good Clinical Practice. They will also help develop recruitment strategies, manage accurate records and study files, and ensure all data is securely stored in line with UK research regulations and Trust guidelines.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
