RAII Position Summary:
The MBL seeks a highly motivated individual to join the Albertin Lab in the Eugene Bell Center for Regenerative Biology and Tissue Engineering as a Research Assistant II. The successful candidate will work as part of team to study the molecular and cellular bases of cephalopod development. The successful applicant will work closely with the PI to perform basic research related to cephalopod embryology and genomics.
Additional Information:Responsibilities include: assisting the PI and other lab personnel with experiments, general lab maintenance, microscopy, data analysis, animal care, purchasing, and administrative tasks. Position will be full-time for one year but may be extended beyond this period contingent upon securing additional funding.
Basic Qualifications:Applicants should have at a minimum an undergraduate degree (B.S. or B.A.) in any of the following biological or physical sciences: Biology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or other similar field. Must have a strong background and proficiency in biology and enjoy working in a collaborative team with others. Must have experience handling cephalopod embryos and adults, and must know standard laboratory practices and be familiar with general laboratory equipment. Coding skills are a plus. Must have some experience with imaging, molecular biology, and/or bioinformatics. Must be highly motivated, organized, and able to work independently. This position requires the individual to work occasionally at night or on weekends in order to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of prior experience working with cephalopods and will have direct experience with basic molecular biological tools and techniques. Experience in developmental biology or bioinformatics a plus.
