      Research & Innovation provides support for all Nova Scotia Health (NSH) researchers and employees across Nova Scotia. Although much of research takes place in Central Zone, Research & Innovation facilitates research projects across the province.

This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

      About the Opportunity

      The Research Assistant contributes to a particular research study or division by assisting with study administration, by providing general administrative support and by maintaining study data.

      • Contacts study subjects to book diagnostic/clinical tests, assessments and appointments
      • Administers, scores and records results for study tests (e.g. questionnaires)
      • Assists with subject screening by accessing patient charts
      • Acts as a point of contact by providing information or direction when answering, screening and referring telephone calls, emails, faxes and/or in-person inquiries
      • Books meetings and organizes project work timelines and deadlines
      • Completes reports in conjunction with the PI and/or Manager and/or Coordinator
      • Provides support to Manager and/or Coordinator with project deliverables
      • Processes and submits forms to Research Ethics Board (REB) – ( training to be provided)
      • Orders, maintains and monitors offices supplies
      • Attends, records and distributes minutes for meetings
      • Faxes, photocopies, books rooms, catering and meetings and other related clerical functions
      • Coordinates incoming and outgoing mail and arranges for courier services
      • Processes invoices and financial payments
      • Acquires signatures for regulatory documents
      • Collects data related to study
      • Develops and maintains filing systems for subject and study documentation
      • Files study documents, test results, etc
      • Develops and maintains methods of tracking information through databases and spreadsheets
      • Enters, summarizes and analyses data using database and/or spreadsheets
      • Archives documentation related to study once it has closed and develops and maintains a method of retrieval from storage

      About You

      We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

      • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in a Health Science and/or Science related field, or completed post-secondary education in a Health Science and/or Science related field required
      • Two years’ research related experience preferred
      • CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) or CCRA (Certified Clinical Research Associate) an asset
      • TCPS2: CORE Certification considered an asset
      • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), email and internet
      • Proficiency with current Capital Health systems (STAR, PHS and/or LIS) an asset
      • Effective communication, problem solving and decision making skills
      • Ability to draft, format and edit office correspondence
      • Well developed organizational, time management and daily planning skills
      • Ability to work well independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment
      • Two years related experience preferred
      • Previous experience in a health care/research setting is an asset

      Hours

      • This is temporary, long-term assignment (18 months), 75 hours bi-weekly
      • Starting June 2024 (subject to change)

      Compensation and Incentives

      $22.35 - $27.93 Hourly/$43,564 - $54,455 Annually
