Overview
A Research Assistant is immediately available in Dr. Thomas Lynch’s laboratory in the Center for Perinatal Research at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital/Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The Lynch lab is using novel ferret models, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, organoids, and single-cell genomics to study the molecular and genetic mechanisms of lung development and congenital heart disease. The goal of the Lynch lab is to elucidate mechanisms of regeneration in the lung by interrogating how and why epithelial regeneration is impaired in diseases caused by airway injuries, Cystic Fibrosis, Chronic Lung Allograft Dysfunction, and Asthma. The Lynch lab is currently funded by the NIH/NHLBI and the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Successful candidates are expected to work with the PI to coordinate the care and breeding of laboratory ferret colony, including the generation and genotyping of novel genetic models, coordinating perinatal timing for research endpoints, performing tissue collection and necropsy, as well as perform general oversight of colony maintenance and animal records, ensure lab personnel receive up-to-date animal training, perform surgical and non-surgical procedures, and liaise between animal care and lab staff to facilitate the completion of research goals. Candidates with experience in animal care (especially with ferrets), caring for pregnant animals, breeding, birthing, and caring for pre-weaned animals will be given priority.
