      Job Summary:

      Research assistants (RA) will work, under minimal supervision, in the Research Imaging Institute’s (RII) Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) laboratory. TMS is a treatment technique that uses a magnetic field to influence brain activity. It can treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and other brain-related conditions. It’s non-invasive and can help when other treatment approaches aren’t effective. Our lab performs basic research on how TMS influences brain activity and is at the forefront of developing robotic TMS delivery systems for personalized TMS treatments.

      As a member of our team, the RA will operate and maintain our robotic TMS systems, coordinate imaging and TMS patient scheduling, perform TMS treatment sessions, and collect relevant data for clinical and diagnostic research. several opportunities for career development will be made available to the RA. Applicants with experience in TMS and/or robotics are preferred, but the RA will be trained (extensively) in all aspects of their duties.

      Job Duties:

      1. Provides routine technical assistance in performing assigned and delegated tasks in support of research projects.

      2. Performs assigned clerical and technical duties in a research or clinical lab setting.

      3. Assists investigators or higher-level technician/scientist with research studies, experiments and treatments including collection of data, delivery of prescribed treatments and set-up and maintenance of equipment.

      4. Responsible for concurrent coordinating the scheduling of imaging and TMS treatments across multiple projects.

      5. Assists in the inventory of all supplies and other materials in the research area.

      6. Carries out general laboratory maintenance.

      7. Performs all other duties as assigned.

      Education:

      Bachelor’s degree in a basic science is required.
