- Operate advanced seed sorting equipment to improve seed quality in postharvest.
- Assist with projects relating to crop culture, nutrition, and the environment on pollen and seed quality.
- Assist with projects relating to new crop development, seed and pollen technologies.
- Record and compile data from culture research or postharvest seed projects.
- Collect data in growth chamber and greenhouse environments.
- Perform routine seed germination and pollen testing.
- B.S. in horticulture or closely related field.
- Previous experience in seed research, seed testing, and germination.
- Previous experience using R Statistical Programming.
- Possesses an understanding of growing principles, plant physiology, and environmental impacts on plant production.
- Ability to write and present clear research data.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Action oriented – Readily acts on challenges without unnecessary planning.
- Communicates effectively – Adjusts to fit the audience and the message.
- Collaborates – Works cooperatively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives
- Occasional travel - international and domestic to production locations.
- Ability to Lift/Carry 50 lbs. for 5% of the day
- Ability to sit/stand for 100% of the day
- Ability to kneel/bend for 5% of the day
- Ability to use hands/fingers for 100% of the day
- Ability to work in greenhouse and growth chamber environments for 50% of the day.

Description
PanAmerican Seed is seeking a motivated individual to assist with research and production needs relating to postharvest seed cleaning and culture research. The Research Assistant will assist the Global Seed Conditioning Lead and Culture Research Lead on projects in growth chamber and greenhouse environments, compile and analyze data, and disseminate findings to production locations and the global research team when appropriate.
