- Perform behavioral neuroscience research, including standard wet lab techniques, histology, microscopy, rodent surgeries, and behavioral testing.
- Assist in designing and conducting research studies in alignment with established scientific methods.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare research summaries using standard software tools.
- Ensure quality control and compliance with protocols in research activities.
- Train and assist undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff in standard lab procedures and research methodologies.
- Provide technical guidance and monitor progress of trainees and research assistants.
- Coordinate team efforts in research projects, ensuring efficiency in research execution.
- Maintain research documentation, including laboratory records, protocols, and compliance materials.
- Assist in ensuring adherence to environmental health and safety protocols, chemical hygiene guidelines, and animal care regulations.
- Manage research materials, including ordering supplies and maintaining laboratory inventory.
- Organize and facilitate regular lab meetings and project updates.
- Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, psychology, biology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in research or laboratory settings
- Experience with animal research and/or wet lab techniques.
- Experience conducting neuroscience research and behavioral testing.
- Knowledge of research compliance, laboratory record-keeping, and protocol development.
- Prior experience in training and mentoring research trainees.
- Experience contributing to manuscript preparation and conference presentations.

The Lenz Lab, directed by Dr. Kathryn Lenz in the Department of Psychology within the College of Arts and Sciences, is seeking a Research Associate to support ongoing research initiatives. This position will contribute to neuroscience research by performing, coordinating, and assisting with basic and applied research in behavioral neuroscience. The role involves training lab personnel, assisting with project execution, managing research-related compliance, and contributing to research development and communication.

Salary Range: $43,900-$57,750
*The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
