Provide various workstream needs and program goal support as required, with an emphasis on statistical analysis, data modelling, and visualization
Develop the tools, templates, and processes required to execute research and analytical activities
Identify key sources of information and data, gather data from disparate sources, and build data models to realize trends, patterns, and forecasts
Use data modelling language, methods, and tools to derive future targets and metrics
Define the assignment scope, expected deliverables, and workplan in coordination with leadership
Undertake detailed research and statistical activities, and organize and facilitate working sessions with key stakeholders to gather the required information and data
Review the quality of the data collected and analyze these data, ensuring accuracy
Conduct advanced statistical analyses using SAS or R, critically interpret results, and present findings in knowledge transfer products (dashboards, Microsoft PowerPoint, reports) for a variety of audiences
Draft knowledge transfer products that summarize analyses conducted and provide recommendations on actions required, highlighting critical areas for consideration
If required, assist with presenting the research and analyses to stakeholders
Work with different stakeholders (including clinicians) to test or monitor the recommendations and solutions stemming from the analysis
Identify and escalate risks to relevant parties and propose recommendations to address the issues
Coordinate advisory groups or committees as needed, and facilitate meetings as required
A graduate degree (e.g., MSc, MPH) in Epidemiology, Health Services Research, or a related health field
Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Science preferred
Required 3-4 years of experience
Quantitative research and data modelling experience using large, administrative data sets is required Qualitative research experience conducting and analyzing focus group, interviews, and survey data is preferred
Experience in using Microsoft Power BI and other data visualization tools required
Experience in using statistical techniques to predict and recommend future targets and metrics
Ability to coordinate all aspects of a research project
Strong research and analytical capabilities
Strong written communication skills with the ability to synthesize and communicate complex research and data ideas to a diverse audience
Proficiency in SAS or R software and Microsoft Excel for statistical analysis and data modelling
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Power BI
Demonstrated computer and data management skills with proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
Ability to work effectively in a team, but with minimal supervision
Knowledge of primary care and of the digital health space in Ontario are desired
An understanding of Ontario’s health care system is an asset

The Population Health and Value Based Health Systems portfolio at Ontario Health is seeking a Research Associate for the Primary Care Program that will focus on a large-scale (provincial) digital health initiative. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your research skills and healthcare knowledge. The Primary Care Program provides strategic direction and coordination for primary care initiatives across Ontario Health. It also collaborates with health systems partners to (i) connect and integrate primary care within Ontario Health Teams to improve coordination of care; (ii) stabilize and expand capacity and access to comprehensive primary care supported by interprofessional teams; and (iii) measure and optimize the quality, equity, and performance of primary care in Ontario.
The Research Associate, Primary Care (Digital) is primarily responsible for conducting research and analysis activities based on various workstream needs and program goals for the Patients Before Paperwork initiative. Patients Before Paperwork is a clinically guided provincial-level change program that is empowered to direct the delivery of several connected digital solutions that will support burden reduction for frontline providers. As part of this role, the Research Associate will work both independently and with other staff to advance our understanding of how digital products are being used in Ontario and to generate forecasts for future products to reduce fax usage, administrative burden, and patient safety risks. The Research Associate will apply research skills to project needs, conduct analysis and data modelling, and translate data into digestible formats through clear and concise visualization and presentation. The Research Associate will be analytical and resourceful as well as an excellent communicator who can tell the story behind raw data to non-technical audiences. By working within a multi-disciplinary team and cross-functional organization, the Research Associate will have the opportunity to gain skills and experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and research/ measurement frameworks within a large-scale digital health initiative.
