- Identifies opportunities for strategic and operational improvements in day-to-day ORS data management, workflow, and leads ORS technology and data initiatives and improvements.
- Performs super user function for system administration and configuration of core ORS systems.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of the unit's administrative standard operating procedures.
- Develops guidelines and policies regarding technology in the department, such as backup and recovery, archival and data retention, and user access.
- Ensures staff are following established procedures/guidelines/policies.
- Responds to requests for ORS and statistical data/reports in a timely manner; collects, monitors and analyzes statistics; provides functional report design expertise using various business intelligence tools.
- Assures accuracy and quality of ORS data records (grants, contracts, and compliance) and regularly audits ORS data, recommends necessary corrections and enhancements.
- Provides oversight and maintenance of electronic and paper records for all grants, contracts, ethics and compliance files. Responsible for good stewardship of all research records, including active file management and archiving.
- Strong knowledge of SQL queries.
- Familiarity with business intelligence reporting, preferably Microsoft Power BI.
- Knowledge of research procedures, guidelines and policies as well as of Canadian regulatory and policy requirements for conducting research in a university setting.
- Previous leadership in the development and implementation of technological solutions and requirements gathering.
- Excellent analytical, planning and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to balance multiple priorities and effectively meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written; including proven experience in the documentation of procedures and processes.
- Ability to handle confidential, sensitive information.
- Strong ability to work in a team environment.
- University degree, consisting of Four Academic Years or Equivalent, in information technology, computer science, management information systems or statistics.

Nature of Work:
The Office of the Research Services (ORS) is seeking a Research Business Analyst to provide database management, record management and data analysis expertise. This position will ensure the integrity of ORS data and respond to data queries and requests for business intelligence. Reporting to the Executive Director, Office of Research Services, the Research Business Analyst will conduct requirements analysis, evaluate vendor solutions, and manage the development and implementation of technological solutions to support various ORS programs and operations. In addition, the Research Business Analyst will develop and maintain automated and manual integrations of data between disparate systems.
