Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a Research Coordinator to support its All of Us (AoU) program. This position will support our Suffolk County sites, and be based out of our Brentwood location.
Position Summary:
As part of the federal Precision Medicine Initiative, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is leading a new program, the All of Us Research Program, which seeks to speed up health research and medical breakthroughs for current and future generations.
To do this, All of Us is asking one million people to share their health information and samples of blood and urine (all de-identified) to build the largest health database of its kind, one that reflects the rich diversity of the United States. Researchers can then use this data to conduct thousands of studies. By looking for patterns, researchers may learn more about what affects people’s health.
Sun River Health has partnered with NIH to offer patients the opportunity to enroll in All of Us. The Research Coordinator for All of Us bridges the gap between healthcare and research, facilitating all aspects of patient engagement, enrollment, and longitudinal participation in the program, including collection of vital signs and biospecimens.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Educate patients on complex research and scientific principles
· Actively engage patients in All of Us, with a minimum of 10 engagements per day
· Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and other staff to promote participation in All of Us
· Effectively utilize electronic health record system as part of the engagement process
· Collect and record data in program applications
· Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to assess individual and team performance
· Help initiate and implement data-driven improvements of the participant experience
· Execute the researchprotocol in compliance with NIH and Institutional Review Board (IRB) guidelines
· Complete certification in human subjects research and uphold ethical research practices
· Complete all training requirements to collect, package, and transport biospecimen samples to an approved drop-off location
· Help participants complete program activities virtually and in person
· Administer multiple informed consents and health-related surveys
· Obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure and heart rate
· Collect, process, and manage blood and urine specimen in compliance with research standards
· Package and transport biospecimen collection to dangerous goods drop-off location
· Conduct quality assurance/quality control checks of the biospecimen collection process
· Participate and present at meetings with All of Us partners, under the supervision of the Program
· Manage multiple participant rosters to support long-term participation in All of Us
· Perform research recruitment, enrollment, and biospecimen collection at the Poughkeepsie health center and other sites in a 30-mile radius
Preferences, Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum Position Requirements:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required and 2+ years’ experience in healthcare or related fieldExperience: Health care experience a must, preferably with patient services
Language: English; Spanish a plus
Technical: Intermediate; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical records required; phlebotomy certification or willingness to become certified
Skills: Dynamic, charismatic communication and superior customer service; independently motivated; experience working with culturally diverse communities
Salary: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
