      Job Description:

      DIVISION: Academic

      UNIT: DiMenna-Nyselius Library

      BASIC FUNCTION: Provides research support to students, faculty, and staff. Assists with Research Department projects.

      UNUSUAL WORK CONDITIONS: Physical requirements: mobility; must be able to lift materials off shelf. Requires some evening and weekend hours.

      EDUCATION: Graduate degree in Library & Information Science (MLS or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program.

      ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE: Recent experience or course work in providing research services. Evidence of a service-oriented approach to working with patrons. Demonstrated competence in using current technologies in the delivery of research services. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

      SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL: No

      REPORTS TO: Research Services Coordinator

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      Provides research support to students, faculty, and staff. This includes:

      • providing in-person and online research assistance,

      • maintaining research department statistics,

      • reviewing departmental policies and procedures,

      • developing and maintaining knowledge of Library and University resources,

      • collaborating with full-time research and access services staff.

      Assists with Research Department projects. This includes:

      • creating, reviewing, and editing research and citation guides,

      • compiling statistics,

      • performing research for projects,

      • assisting with programming.

      Performs such other duties, responsibilities, and activities as required by supervisor and as departmental/University needs indicate.
