Participate as a member of the team producing the IMF’s semi-annual Fiscal Monitor. Under the supervision of senior staff in FAD, prepare and disseminate the relevant data output (including analytical tables and charts, and the Methodological Statistical Appendices of the Fiscal Monitor).
Verify and review databases of FP for accuracy, reliability, and coverage. Expand and improve the division's databases and data management practices in line with good practices.
Participate with economists on analytical projects (assembling datasets, performing descriptive analysis, and implementing econometric tests).
Prepare presentations for outreach and internal communications.
Master’s degree in economics, statistics, finance, or a related field or a university degree, supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience.
Good understanding of statistics and econometrics. Strong understanding of Excel and creation of charts in Excel. Familiarity with PowerPoint or Keynote. Proven working knowledge of Stata. Knowledge of other statistical or programming software (Eviews, Matlab, etc.) would be desirable but not required.
Previous experience as a research assistant or research analyst is desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines under pressure.

The Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD) of the International Monetary Fund is seeking to hire a Research Officer (RO)/Sr. Research Officer (Sr. RO) for the Fiscal Policy and Surveillance division (FP). The RO/Sr. RO will be expected to use his/her quantitative skills to collect, compile, and analyze information to support the operational and policy work of FAD.

This is a two-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability and continuous business need.
