      Job Description
      Exercises sound judgement in independently reviewing and monitoring research submissions to ensure conformance with federal regulations and guidance, state laws, and institutional policies governing research involving human subjects; applies ethical principles to resolve complex issues; independently advises investigators on satisfying review requirements for novel research and cross institutional research proposals; contacts agencies to clarify regulations and guidance; makes independent regulatory determinations; makes exempt determinations; consults local experts and evaluates international research settings for human subjects research; prepares inter-institutional agreements and regulatory documents for institutional official signature; provides professional service to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and HIPAA privacy board members and investigators involving the application of ethical principles and concepts; monitors conflicts of interest; approves agenda and reviewer assignments; documents technical deliberations, regulatory findings, and board actions; may serve as subject matter expert; develops programs and conducts training sessions for student and faculty researchers, and committee members; provides guidance and serves as a mentor to protocol analysts; collaborates with Operations Manager on review and analysis of customer service delivery and business processes to monitor and prioritize workflow, and to set team-level targets; establishes and participates in cross-unit teams to develop effective procedures and associated training materials; partners with colleges and departments in educational and outreach activities; relative distribution of duties varies with Board assignment.


      Minimum Education Required
      Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience


      Required Qualifications:
      CIP Certification Required. 2 years of relevant experience; customer service experience; experience working in human subjects research regulations, problem-solving experience; ability to work in a regulatory and deadline driven environment; ability to work almost exclusively on a computer using regulatory application software; demonstrated leadership successes; proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite; good writing and communication skills.


      Desired:
      Knowledge and experience with research methods, IRB operations, and regulations and policies governing the protection of human subjects in research. Demonstrated high productivity and quality levels in preparing and processing IRB submissions; demonstrated navigational expertise in Buck IRB.
      This position has been designated as standby in accordance with the Disaster Preparedness & University State of Emergency Policy 6.17 and the Emergency Closing Policy 6.15.

      Additional Information:

      Employees are provided several flexible work schedule and location options aligned with U.S. Eastern Time Zone, including an option for remote. All employees are provided University-configured equipment and supportive technology tools. Employees will be required to provide reliable internet access and home office furnishings if they opt for part or all of their duties to be undertaken remotely.

      The target salary range for this position is $53,800 - $71,700.
