      Responsibilities will be moderate and less routine and will require responsibility and good judgement. May coordinate activities for other student employees. Requires providing excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a professional environment. Requires previous experience and knowledge or skill in student assistant role. Represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values.

      Additional Information:

      Part-time (20-25 hours/week) position available immediately for a college student who is interested in working in a virology research laboratory. This job will require the applicant to help maintain the lab by cleaning glassware, autoclaving glassware and boxing up biological waste for Stericycle pick-up. They will also assist researchers with their experiments involving collecting and processing samples from pigs or calves (bleeding, inoculations, injections, collecting nasal, tonsil, and rectal swabs), feeding and cleaning animal rooms, recording samples and results, computer work, creating inventory of samples stored tin freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks, updating freezer inventory and other general laboratory work (preparing buffers, cleaning samples, aliquoting reagents, autoclaving materials, etc.).

      70% Student will help maintain the lab by cleaning glassware, autoclaving glassware and boxing up biological waste for Stericycle pick-up and helping to make solutions.

      25% Student will assist with updating inventories of samples in our e-logs, updating freezer inventory and other general laboratory work (making solutions such as PBS, TAE, etc.).

      5% Assist researchers with their experiments involving collecting and processing samples from pigs or calves (bleeding, inoculations, injections, collecting nasal, tonsil, and rectal swabs).
