      Job Summary

      This job entails using mass spectrometry to study lipids and small molecules. This work includes assisting with and independently performing experiments involving mounting mass spectrometry nebulizers, generating mass spectra of cellular lipids and analyzing large lipidomics datasets. The project primarily focuses on mass spectrometry hardware to optimize detection of cellular and bacterial lipids.


      Qualifications

      Duties include:

      • Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry experiments
      • High performance liquid chromatography
      • Bioinformatic data analysis of mass spectrometry data with R software
      • Engineering and fitting nebulizers to mass spectrometers

      Essential qualifications and qualities:

      • College student in good standing
      • Coursework in chemistry and physics
      • Engaged and reliable team member and communicator
      • Interested in learning new skills and being active in a scientific community

      Preferred qualifications:

      • Classwork in mechanical engineering
      • Programming experience, R coding

      Education
      High School Diploma or Equivalent required
