      A Brief Overview
      Dr. Eisch is a neuroscientist interested in how molecular, cellular, and circuit changes—particularly in the limbic system—influence motivated behavior and cognition. She is specifically interested in how neuroplasticity in the hippocampal dentate gyrus contributes to both normal and pathological function with relevance to depression and addiction

      The candidate will work on circuit-based analysis of mouse brain function in a basic neuroscience lab based at CHOP and part of PSOM.

      Responsibilities include (and prior experience required in):

      • Neuroscience behavior experiments and upkeep of behavior testing protocols
      • Stereotaxic surgery assistance
      • Tissue preparation and processing for immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and cell counting
      • Mouse breeding
      • Organizing and collecting behavior data
      • Computer coding (Python, MatLab)


      What you will do

      • Performs routine tests under the direction of principal investigator or supervisor
      • Performs research procedures on experimental samples as directed
      • Records and checks results for completeness and accuracy
      • Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks
      • Performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment
      • Assists with planning specific research protocols and procedures
      • Maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies and equipment
      • Cleans and performs routine maintenance on lab equipment
      • Coordinates schedules of tests & procedures
      • Attends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques
      • Records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner
      • Conducts literary searches as directed

      Education Qualifications

      • Associate's Degree Required
      • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

      Experience Qualifications

      • At least six (6) months laboratory experience Required
      • At least one (1) year laboratory experience Preferred
      • Related internship experience Preferred
