      Job Description

      Research Technician

      The Folker Lab in the Biology Department at Boston College has an opening for a Research Technician. The successful candidate will spend 50% time managing the stocking of the laboratory and coordinating functions that are critical to all projects. 50% of the time will be spent engaging in original, hypothesis-driven research. This research will utilize a combination of Drosophila genetics, microscopy, and image analysis in addition to standard molecular biology techniques. Specific responsibilities for this position include:

      • Maintaining Drosophila stocks
      • Maintaining solutions of buffers and other lab reagents
      • Keeping general lab reagents stocked
      • Attendance at and participation in lab meetings
      • Completion of experiments with careful documentation
      • Analysis of experiments with documentation
      • Presentation of data at lab meetings

      Requirements

      Basic Qualifications:

      • Bachelor degree in Biology or related field
      • Strong communication skills
      • Strong organizational skills
      • Motivation and ability to work independently
      • Experience with Drosophila is not required
