      Job Summary

      There is an opening for a research technician in the Gale Group at the Martinos Center for Biomedical
      Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital/ Harvard Medical School starting June 2022.

      We are developing iron complexes as biochemically responsive MRI contrast agents. These new contrast agents modulate the MR signal in response to metabolic or enzymatically mediated transformations that alter metal ion electron spin configuration. We are currently developing agents that detect reactive oxygen species and enzymes secreted in the pathologic microenvironments of inflammation and cancer.


      Qualifications

      Education
      Bachelor's Degree preferred

      Experience
      Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment. 1-2 years preferred

      PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Responsible for physicochemical characterization of new transition metal complexes using paramagnetic NMR, cyclic voltammetry, pH-potentiometry, UV-visible spectroscopy, HPLC and ICP-MS.
      • There are also opportunities to engage in chemical synthesis, bioanalytical chemistry, molecular biology, and/or MR imaging studies, depending on the interests and

      SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

      • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
      • Analytical skills and ability to resolve technical problems and interpret complex results
      • Strong research skills to ascertain relevant information and communicate findings.
      • Excellent communication skills

      Salary range is $45,000-$47,500.

      • Position involves working in a biomedical imaging research lab. The employee will work in a general office environment and a wet lab (chemistry/biology) environment.
