- Under supervision, provide assistance to the PI, Jennifer H. Stern, PhD, and other laboratory personnel during in vivo animal studies per established protocols.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of experiments, procedures, and results in laboratory notebooks and databases, with guidance from PI.
- Assist, under supervision, with the husbandry, breeding, and weaning of the Stern laboratory mouse colony, and maintain mouse databases.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper operation, calibration, and cleanliness.
- Under the direction of the PI, perform routine laboratory experiments, including biochemical assays, immunoblotting, RT/qPCR, mouse tissue dissections, and genotyping genetically engineered mice.
- Attend lab meetings as needed.
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to all safety policies.
- Self-motivation, a good work ethic, excellent problem-solving skills, and an ability to work independently are essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with the others in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Prior work experience not required.

Campbell Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85724 USA Position Highlights The Stern Laboratory, within the Department of Medicine, is seeking a full-time Research Technician I who will assist with research aimed at understanding the role of aging in metabolic disease progression. The incumbent is expected to perform wet laboratory and in vivo animal procedures, clean/maintain laboratory equipment, and assist with the maintenance of the Stern laboratory's mouse colony. The selected applicant must be comfortable and efficient in a fast-paced, dynamic, and growing environment. This is a temporary position expected to start on June 9, 2025 and end August 25, 2025.
