      Job Description:

      Summary

      The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate for a Research Technician II . The successful candidate will provide technical support for research activities in the epilepsy lab. As a Research Technician II, you’ll assist in conducting experiments, analyzing biological samples, and maintaining laboratory operations.

      The position provides an excellent opportunity to apply scientific knowledge and technical skills in a collaborative research environment where on the job training will be provided.

      This position is part-time, 20 hours a week.

      What You’ll Do:

      Research Support: Assist in epilepsy and neuroscience experiments by processing tissue samples (e.g., cryosectioning, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry),

      conducting imaging, stereology, and molecular biology techniques (e.g., viral vectors, cloning, tissue culture).

      Data Management: Record, analyze, and organize experimental findings using software, maintain inventory, and communicate results with the team.

      Lab Maintenance: Perform routine equipment maintenance, ensure lab cleanliness, and troubleshoot as needed.

      • Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.
      • Collects, analyzes, and processes laboratory samples or research data.
      • Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions.
      • Determines testing methods for non-standardized test.
      • Cleans, sanitizes, maintains, and operates lab equipment.
      • Assists scientists with research and record findings in the field or lab.
      • Maintains sample tracking.

      • Follows established procedures for work assignments, and completes assignments which are semi-routine and may be atypical in nature

      • Able to resolve most problems and issues and respond to requests without escalation
      • Provides guidance to students
      • May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
