- Conduct research projects by performing a variety of experiments.
- Set up laboratory experiments or surgeries, including equipment and supplies, disassemble laboratory experiments, and clean facilities after surgeries.
- Assists with preparing animals for surgery and with performing or assisting with surgeries. Monitor and maintain experimental animals.
- Refine, adapt, and develop procedures or techniques to fit specific experiment requirements, modify existing equipment or designs and fabricate requisite equipment.
- Recommend improvements and new protocols and procedures as needed.
- Maintain laboratory supplies, logs, and record books, troubleshoot and resolve problems, and help with special projects.
- Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
- Keep laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Maintain glassware by picking-up, cleaning, sterilizing, and distributing.
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory safety, including biohazard materials and chemical waste.
- Data analysis for publication, and assist with preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative results.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline.
- Knowledge of modern research methods, data collection, and analyses.
- Skill in analyzing and evaluating data.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Chemistry, or related field of study.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Research Technician III (College of Medicine - Phoenix) Posting Number req19146 Department COM Phx Internal Medicine Department Website Link College of Medicine-Phoenix Location Greater Phoenix Area Address 475 N. 5th St, Phoenix, AZ 85004 USA Position Highlights The laboratory of Dr. Wondisford and Dr. Radovick in the College of Medicine-Phoenix is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Research Technician III. Dr. Wondisford and Dr. Radovick recently joined the College of Medicine-Phoenix to continue their biomedical research projects funded by NIH. The laboratories are in the newly renovated Biomedical Science Partnership Building (BSPB) in the downtown of Phoenix along with new equipment and friendly crews. Dr. Radovick is interested in the molecular mechanisms of Kisspeptin in hypothalamus to regulate sexual development and related metabolism.
Dr. Wondisford studies the molecular mechanisms of glucose homeostasis and thyroid hormones in metabolic disease such as diabetes and fatty liver disease.
Successful candidates will join a multidisciplinary team within the setting of an outstanding new facility with capabilities in imaging, flow cytometry, bioinformatics, high throughput screening, phosphoproteomics, and other advanced approaches. The position is part of a well-funded research program and will provide the opportunity to produce high-impact publications and establish a record of grant award funding. Duties & Responsibilities Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications • Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Chemistry, or related field of study.
• Previous specialized experience in laboratory management and/or biomedical experiment is preferred.
• Familiarity with immunological methods such as immunohistochemistry and western blotting.
