      Position Highlights The College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona is seeking a candidate for a PI-eligible senior experimentalist research scientist, who will lead and oversee a substantial experimental project on quantum repeater development within the NSF-funded Center for Quantum Networks. The ideal candidate would have a strong graduate research experience in quantum non-linear optics with a focus on squeezed light generation and manipulation. A strong background in quantum information, especially continuous variable quantum optics, and prior experimental background in spin-qubits (such as color centers in diamond) are strongly desirable. The successful candidate should hold, by the time of employment, a Ph.D. degree in Optics, Physics/Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

      Duties & Responsibilities

      Duties & Responsibilities:

      • Engage in experimental research in quantum enhanced photonic information processing with applications to continuous variable quantum information processing, with minimal supervision.
      • Participate in scholarly discussions with colleagues on new ideas and concepts, work closely with theorists and experimentalists, author journal papers and conference articles, participate in government review meetings, and give talks and seminars on technical topics.
      • The candidate will have the opportunity, if they wish, to participate in writing grant proposals for new projects.
      • Supervise undergraduate/MS/PhD students.
      • Additional duties as required.

      Minimum Qualifications
      • The successful candidate should hold, by the time of employment, a Ph.D. degree in Optics, Physics/Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
      • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience is required.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Demonstrated scientific and technical experience in some of the aforementioned areas.
