      This Opportunity

      WSP is currently initiating a search for a Resident Engineer for our Chicago, IL office. This candidate will be involved in projects with our Construction Management Team, and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

      Your Impact

      The Resident Engineer will work on transportation infrastructure construction projects. Responsibilities include:

      • Managing day-to-day construction management/construction inspection operations on-site, including oversight of construction contractor operations.
      • This position will be on-site and requires a high level of construction engineering management experience.
      • This role may manage one or more construction/field engineers.
      • Performing observation of field testing and commissioning.
      • Verifying that quality standards and project deadlines are met.
      • Driving and ensuring contractor deliverables are met.
      • Provide staff mentoring.
      • Preparing inspection reports.
      • Review of shop drawings and specifications to assure proper installation of the items in the contract
      • Review reports, payroll certifications and other labor documentation from the contractor.
      • Review Contractor’s Work Plans.
      • Perform review of Contractor’s schedules, Baseline and updates, in coordination with client requirements.
      • Maintenance quantities logs. Response to RFI’s, Prepare a punch list with the owner upon completion of the project, Review of change orders and issuance of recommendations.
      • Monitor and ensure Contractor’s compliance with the approved Contractor’s Quality Plan. Monitor Contractor compliance with the Contractor’s Safety and Health Plan and with specific Safe Work Plans.
      • Maintaining client satisfaction.
      • Construction contract administration, including pay requisitions, change orders, and correspondence from pre-construction through closeout.
      • Chairing site meetings with the contractor, client and other stakeholders, and prepare meeting minutes.
      • Direct coordination with the client's Project Representatives.
      • Providing regular status reports to Construction Services Department Manager.
      • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
      • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

      Who You Are

      Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
      • Minimum of 5+ years of related construction experience to include inspection in a supervisory capacity
      • OSHA 10 hr certification or ability to obtain
      • Excellent English languages skills, written and verbal
      • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel) etc.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Illinois Professional Engineer licensure or equivalent
      • Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), or Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DOTH) experience
      • eBuilder, or CDOT CMQA experience

      Expected Salary: $93,700 - $136,620
