Sydney Local Health District is seeking Resident Medical Officers for General Rotations to join the team at Concord Hospital and Network 3
What you will be doing:
This position is open to qualified candidates who will have completed 12 months medical clinical experience in a hospital setting and who are interested in undertaking general rotations for their PGY 2 year in 2024. You will be involved in providing effective medical services to patients under supervision in a complex clinical environment. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will deal with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature, whilst exercising discretion, sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality. Decision making and supervision will be at the appropriate level according to your skills, knowledge and experience. You will be expected to adopt a progressively more independent approach to patient management under the guidance of and at the discretion of the Attending Medical Officer.This role is ideal for those with an interest in general medicine, surgery, critical care or those who wish to further their experience in an acute care setting in preparation for Critical Care, GP, Surgical or BPT training. Rotations through areas of internal medicine and/or surgery will provide exposure to both inpatient and outpatient care for patients with conditions requiring sub-specialty medical and surgical care respectively. All rotations will comply with requirements as set by the National Framework standards.

There will be possible exposure in internal medicine to: Emergency Medicine, ICU, Cardiology, Immunology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Aged Care Clinical Governance, Clinical Governance, Rehabilitation, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Drug Health, Geriatrics, Infectious Diseases, Medical Oncology, Palliative Care, Haematology, Respiratory, Hospital in the Home; Surgical terms include: Plastics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Urology, Neurosurgery, Colorectal, Breast Endocrine, Upper Gastrointestinal, Orthopaedics, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery.There is also a rural GP term at Broken Hill. All RMOs will complete a Nights Relief term.
Network 3 general rotations include Concord, Canterbury and Broken Hill Base Hospitals.

Where it is identified that a prevocational doctor has a two-year prevocational contract and has accepted a 2025 PGY2 position at another facility, the relevant JMO Units will be notified, and they will contact the doctor to confirm which position they will be working in for 2025.
