      We are hiring for a Residential Camp Grounds Worker at Camp Frank A. Day for the 2025 Summer season! Please apply here if you are interested in joining us as a member of our Residential camp.

      YMCA Camp Frank A. Day, or "CFAD" as many campers and alum call it, is a coed summer overnight camp west of Boston in beautiful East Brookfield, MA. Summer after summer, Camp Frank A. Day campers bond as a community as they learn how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group. Through physical, social and educational activities, our campers gain self-reliance, a love for nature and the outdoors, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership—all amidst the fun of camp fires, bugle calls, canoeing, soccer matches, archery and talent shows.

      POSITION SUMMARY:

      Under the direct supervision of Camp Maintenance Director, the Residential Camp Grounds Worker shall assist in the day-to-day maintenance and housekeeping of the Camp Frank A. Day and its facilities. The Residential Camp Grounds Worker will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas, including such duties as raking, mopping, dusting, sanitizing, and trash removal.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      1. Active support of our DEIB statement and putting into practice our commitment to equity, diversity, belonging and inclusion. Continue to think about strategies to support diversity goals of the organization.
      2. Ensures CFAD is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and general cleaning.
      3. Safely operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
      4. Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
      5. Ensures CFAD building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
      6. Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
      1. May set up furniture for events.
      2. Cleaning, painting and repair work on all buildings on CFAD property.
      3. Routine Cleaning responsibilities related to camp’s health and safety protocols.
      4. Must be able to work and live at YMCA Camp Frank A. Day
      5. Able to work independently and organize tasks to be completed in timely and efficient matter.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      1. Six months or more of related experience preferred.
      2. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
      3. Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
      4. Committing to support and further our anti-racist work as an organization. Learning about our initiatives and the continuous work and being able to vocalize with members if needed.
      5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
      6. Reliable, dependable, great time-management skills and ability to multi-task.
      7. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
      1. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
      2. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
      3. Valid drivers license.
      4. Must be able to work varied hours (to include days, evenings, weekends and possibly holidays) depending on operational needs.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS

      1. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
      2. Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
      3. Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
      4. Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
      5. Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
      6. Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
