      Job summary

      This role involves providing on-call psychiatric services for a new 42-bed mental health service in Clacton-on-Sea, England. The successful candidate will be a GMC-registered psychiatry doctor with experience working in a multi-disciplinary team, and will provide care and treatment for individuals affected by mental health disorders, including trauma, acute mental illness, psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, and dual diagnosis.

      Main duties of the job

      The Specialty Doctor will be responsible for reviewing the mental state and physical health of service users, ensuring adequate handover to colleagues, managing physical health concerns, seeking collateral history, completing timely admission assessments, and working effectively with the team to ensure patients have access to appropriate medical treatment. The role involves on-call coverage from 5pm to 9am Monday to Friday every other week, and every other weekend from Friday 0:00 to Monday 09:00, with flexibility in the rota.

      Are you an GMC registered Psychiatry doctor, with experience of working in Psychiatry as part of a multi-disciplinary team?

      Do you live 1 hour commute from Dunnock View (Application submitted subject to CQC registration) and want to work flexibly as part of a team of Speciality Doctors, jointly covering On call 5pm to 9am Monday to Friday every other week and On call every other weekend from 0:00 on Friday to 09:00 on Monday.

      You will not be contractually obliged to complete all these hours, however advance notice will be required for a change in rota. Annual leave and sick pay will form part of the hourly rate, however mileage will be paid through a claims process.

      Working in a new 42-bed mental health service, you’ll be providing care and treatment for men and women who may have suffered trauma and are affected by mental health disorders.

      As an Speciality Doctor you will be delivering a high-quality clinical service to service users, attending seclusion reviews and escalated incidents within a timely manner, completing full physical health screen for new admissions, and working effectively with colleagues to ensure that service users have access to appropriate medical treatment.

      There’s a strong emphasis on teamwork and communication with this role, with cover needing to be actively sourced within the medical team.

      Be part of the new team at this newly opened 42-bed service, providing treatment for men and women who may have suffered trauma and are affected by mental health disorders.

      A trauma-informed care model is used to focus on length of stay to make sure individuals are able to move as quickly and safely as possible from the service to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them.

      Service users could be suffering from Acute mental illness, Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Personality Disorder, Dual diagnosis, Self-harm, Substance misuse issues.

      The RMO Doctor role involves:

      • Review the mental state and physical health of service users.
      • Ensure adequate handover to colleagues.
      • Take a lead with managing any physical health concerns that emerge during inpatient stay.
      • Seek collateral history from other professionals and family.
      • Complete admission assessments in a timely manner.
      • Work effectively with colleagues to ensure that patients have access to appropriate medical treatment at all times, including referral to the local A&E Department if required.
      • Attend monthly clinical and managerial supervision sessions.

      To be successful as a Speciality Doctor, you’ll need:

      • Full GMC registration
      • Experience working in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams
      • To have had an appraisal/RITA within the last year
      • At least 1 years’ experience in Psychiatry
      • Experience working as a doctor within a PICU/Secure services (desirable)
