      Program and Role Summary:

      Wayfinder’s The Haven which opened in 2024 in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Refugee Resettlement, provides shelter and long-term foster care for unaccompanied children. The program assists children ages 0 to 17 and pregnant or parenting teenagers who enter the country alone and do not have a parent or legal guardian in the U.S. to care for them. The program includes a group home on our L.A. campus housing boys ages 12 to 17, basic foster care in family homes for children ages 0 to 17, and therapeutic foster care in the homes of trained families for children ages 0 to 17 with significant emotional, behavioral, medical or developmental needs. Wayfinder addresses these children’s complex, intertwined needs; provides stability; reduces trauma; and locates suitable sponsors.

      The primary focus of the Residential Supervisor is to provide direct care for unaccompanied children and youth ages 12-17.5. Job emphasis is centered on the residents’ ability to adjust and stabilize within the shelter environment and transition to community settings. The focus is on developing daily living skills, socialization, independence, behavior management, and pre-vocational skills.

      Primary Responsibilities:

      • Develops and executes policies and procedures and a system of accountability that tracks the quality of service, program budget, relevant documentation, and adherence to regulatory and contractual requirements.
      • Assists in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the haven staff during the shift.
      • Prepares and oversees the staffing assignment for each shift to ensure that the health and safety needs of the residents are met and to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements about staffing ratios.
      • Coordinates and supervises staffing for shift and assists with morning coverage as needed.
      • Maintain logs on residents regarding behavior or incidents for communication with the Office of Refugee Resettlement, Community Care Licensing, shelter staff, and other Wayfinder depts.

      Qualifications


      Education and Experience:

      • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (social work, human services, human development, child development) from an accredited university is required.
      • Minimum of two (2) years as a supervisor/manager in a residential setting.
      • ProAct trained and or ProAct certified trainer (preferred).
      • Ability to work collaboratively with members of interdisciplinary teams.
      • Demonstrated awareness of, sensitivity to and competence in dealing with culturally, socio-economically diverse client population.
