      Job Description

      As an Activities Director, you will be responsible for communicating and working with Westgate vendors such as Resort Recreation and Tourism Management (RR & TM), Arcade Room, Excursions, Scuba, Tennis, Caricature Artists, etc. To facilitate products and services for the Activities department. Plans, organizes, and directs comprehensive recreation programs and special events at resort by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

      As an Activities Director, you will:

      • Direct supervision of the entire Waterpark/Activities/ Events Program.
      • Create, implement, and direct activity and special event programs using themed concepts.
      • Formulate an environment, which will increase employee morale, motivation, and promote team spirit.
      • Prepare departmental Waterpark and Activities budgets.
      • Direct communication with Westgate vendors in order to facilitate products, programs, and services for Activities/ Special Events.
      • Interview applicants, verify references, and hire personnel.
      • Set policy and procedures for Waterpark and Activities departments.
      • Attend weekly staff meetings with department heads, supervisors & managers.
      • Perform monthly staff meetings with department and prepare reports for accidents and remain updated on emergency/safety procedures.
      • Coordinate training for Lifeguards, CPR and First Aid Training.
      • Maintain weekly and monthly records of all inventories purchased and distributed through the Waterpark/Activities/Events department.
      • Remain updated on all recreation and sports equipment, as well as lakes, ponds, game room and outdoor recreation facilities to meet appropriate safety standards.
      • Prepare, design, order, and distribute marketing material for resort, VIP, or employee activities/events.
      • Perform other tasks as assigned by the General Manager or Director of Resort Operations.
      • Serve as speaker/host at resort functions when called upon.
      • Interprets recreation programs and their philosophy to individuals and groups through personal participation and staff assignments.

      Qualifications

      • Education: A bachelor's degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.

      • Certifications: The candidate should possess the following certifications:

        • Lifeguard (LG)
        • Lifeguard Instructor (LGI)
        • First Aid Certification
        • CPR Certification
        • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or AFO (Aquatic Facility Operator) certifications
      • Experience:

        • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in planning and organizing activities for both adults and children.
        • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a similar role.
        • Proven experience in budget management and financial planning for recreational programs.
      • Physical Requirements:

        • Must be capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50lbs.
        • Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
        • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.
        • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license to operate company golf carts.
      • Legal Requirements:

        • Successful completion of a background check.
        • Ability to pass a drug test.
        • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

      • Program Development: Proficiency in creating, implementing, and directing activity and special event programs with themed concepts to enhance guest experiences.

      • Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to safety standards, including knowledge of safety procedures, accident reporting, and the ability to ensure the well-being of participants.

      • Team Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with department heads, supervisors, managers, and staff members through regular meetings and communication.

      • Marketing Skills: Capable of designing, ordering, and distributing marketing materials for resort, VIP, or employee activities/events to attract participants.

      • Inventory Management: Skill in maintaining accurate records of inventory and purchasing sports and recreation-related equipment, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

      • Emergency Response: Knowledge of emergency procedures and the ability to make informed decisions to cancel or shut down various equipment or activities when safety hazards arise.

      • Customer Service: A dedication to providing exceptional customer service to resort guests and owners, including serving as a speaker or host at resort functions when required.

      • Proactive Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively identify and address issues, find solutions, and adapt to changing conditions within the waterpark and activities department.

      • Resource Allocation: Proficiency in analyzing recreational needs and resources, interpreting recreation programs, and making assignments to staff accordingly.
