- Works in collaboration with Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Assistant providing safety of patients requiring individualized one-on-one safety monitoring as ordered by the Licensed Provider.
- Assists patients with individualized personal care such as oral care and hair maintenance (as coordinated with nursing staff).
- Communicates with patients, staff and family members assuring patient safety at all times.
- Accompanies patients during transfer from floor to floor or to procedures as assigned in order to assure safety and patient comfort in continuum of care.
- Accomodates patient communication needs such as conversation, diversion and distraction.
- Assist nursing staff with turning patients, repositioning every two hours, change occupied and unoccupied bed linen, removal of trays, trash etc.
- Assist nursing staff with patient mobility transfers and patient transfer upon discharge.
- Assists nursing staff to ambulate patients that are 1-person standby assist with gait belt and contact guard with gait belt with or without mobility device (cane or walker)
- Feed patients that are unable to feed themselves, document % of meal consumed
- Empty foley bags/urinals and document I & O
- Telemetry Remote Boxes-manage battery placement and refreshing electrode pads as needed
- Placement and replacement of pulse oximetry probe
- Update white boards in patient rooms
- Pass meal trays, fill patient water pitchers, answer lights
- Strip rooms after patients are discharged to prepare for EVS and restock rooms as needed.
- Performs hand hygiene audits.
- Deliver specimens to lab.
- Customer service skills including effective listening
- Verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to perform basic computer and software functions
- Ability to work independently and on a team
- Ability to use sound judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to flexible work routine/schedule
- High school diploma (or GED or equivalent certificate from an accredited program) or higher
- Six (6) months or more of patient safety and/or nursing assistant experience
- 3 Months: Mandatory Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification/training within 3 months of start date
- Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment
A Day in the Life of a Resource Care Technician
This position provides assistance to licensed staff ensuring patient safety at all times when one-on-one care is required for the patient and is ordered by the Licensed Independent Practitioner. Resource Care Technicians are observers and work with patients, staff and family members to ensure social needs are met by the patient. Anticipates the needs of assigned patients and assists in communicating those immediate needs to nursing staff. The Resource Care Technician will perform all the duties of a Patient Safety Attendant as well as the additional duties outlined below. The Resource Care Technician may assist the Registered Nurse and Certified Nurses Aid within the scope of his/her training and Cheyenne Regional competencies.
