      The Respiratory Care Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising programs to provide comprehensive patient care and services. This includes working with clinical staff to develop systems and procedures necessary for efficient clinical operations, provide training, information and support required by employees to solve problems to enable high quality, efficient patient care.

      JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Provides supervision and guidance to staff, including developing and coordinating clinical activities. Resolving employees issues as appropriate.
      • Develops, implements and evaluates performance improvement initiatives and assist staff in implementation of these initiatives.
      • Develops capital and operational budgets in collaboration with Finance and makes decisions regarding expenditure of funds to meet department objectives and to maintain or reduce costs within budget amounts.
      • Ensures that staff is trained in technical and clinical skills. Serves as resource to staff.
      • Provides staff with the necessary training, information and support to solve problems and improve operations at the staff levels.
      • Reviews performance of staff, assures staff competency and initiates remedial actions, when appropriate.
      • Provides direct patient care in appropriate discipline as needed.
      • Responsible for department scheduling and day to day staffing.
      • Maintain a high level of knowledge related to the department and seeks opportunities to enhance professional growth.
      • Responsible for employee yearly evaluations.

      PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

      Sitting up to two hours per day – 1 hour increments. Standing up to 6 hours per day – 1 hour increments. Walking up to 4 hours per day – 15 minutes increments. Frequently uses fingers to manipulate small vials, equipment, etch. Continuous use of hands for writing and operating respiratory equipment. Continuous twisting/turning of hand and body to provide patient care. Occasional lifting of boxes and equipment up to 25 lbs. Frequent carrying of objects/equipment up to 25 lbs. Frequent pushing/pulling of equipment or patients up to 300 lbs. Frequent stooping/bending. Occasional crouching. Occasional reaching above shoulder level. Ability to palpate arteries, feel skin temperature, etc. Hearing as it relates to normal high and low frequencies. Seeing as it relates to general, far, near, color and peripheral visions. Depth perception.

      EDUCATION:

      Registered Respiratory Therapist with a valid license to practice respiratory care in the State of Pennsylvania, ACLS & PALS certified, certified in neonatal resuscitation.

      TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

      Three years previous experience in leadership position within a Respiratory Care Department. Preferred Clinical Coordinator or Assistant Management experience. Knowledge of clinical staff supervision, program development and evaluation. Strong oral and written communications skills. Excellent leadership skills and a willingness to lead by examples.
