Job Description
- Req#: 18109
- Locates, cleans, decontaminates, sets up, and prepares respiratory instruments and equipment for the Respiratory Care department. Replaces circuits and assembles on all necessary supplies.
- Assists in keeping department clean and orderly as well as keeping the department and department locations stocked with supplies. Brings equipment to the LRCPs in other parts of the hospital as needed to prevent a delay in patient care. Maintains supply and equipment inventory to optimize the delivery of Respiratory Care services.
- Demonstrates aseptic technique in all aspects of job duties.
- Assists with the preparation and maintenance of patient equipment and prevention of waste.
- Contacts other departments, such as Clinical Equipment, Central Supply, and Maintenance for assistance as appropriate.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in dealing with patients, visitors, and health care team members.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal working relationships and works cooperatively with healthcare team members.
- Provides indirect patient care and support to the Respiratory Care department for routine, urgent, and complex needs to ensure quality of patient care.
- Checks supplies for par levels, expiration dates, rotation of supplies, and maintenance of supply area for cleanliness. Compiles list of supplies needed and submits to supervisor and manager for ordering.
- Identifies malfunctioning equipment and notifies appropriate personnel.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous work experience in a medical or healthcare setting preferred.
- AHA BLS. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Proficient in English. Verbal and written communication skills.
- CPR.
- Ability to communicate with hospital staff. Uses discretion and courtesy when working with staff and visitors.
- Lifting Floor to Waist 30 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 30 lbs.
- Sensory Requirements include: Accurate Near Vision, Accurate Far Vision, Color Discrimination, Moderate Depth Perception, Moderate Hearing
- Anticipated Occupational Exposure Risks Include the following: Bloodborne Pathogens , Chemical , Airborne Communicable Disease , Radiation
