- Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient responses and document clinical observations and treatment outcomes.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas analysis and pulmonary function testing.
- Respond to emergency codes and provide airway management, including intubation support and resuscitation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory therapies, equipment use, and home care when needed.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with hospital policies, safety regulations, and infection control standards.
- State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required.
- Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
- 2 years experience as an RCP preferred.
- ACLS certificate within 60 day of hire and maintain current.
- NRP certificate preferred.
- PALS certificate within 60 days of hire and maintain current.
- Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree required. If there is no Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science Degree, a high school diploma or equivalent is required
Overview
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), you will perform respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians. Your responsibilities will focus on patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and documentation, considering the specific needs of patients across different age groups. In the absence of a supervisor, you may be assigned as the Lead RCP, overseeing departmental operations during your shift.Location: Shasta Regional Medical Center, Redding, CA
