Job Description

- Administers oxygen therapy as ordered.
- Administers physician prescribed respiratory treatments to patients within their individual registration to practice, including intermittent positive pressure breathing (IPPB), nebulizers, metered dose inhalers, and chest physiotherapy.
- Operates and maintains non-invasive monitoring systems as ordered, including pulse oximeters, transcutaneous monitors, and oxygen analyzers.
- Performs deep endotracheal and nasotracheal suction and tracheostomy care per procedure.
- Performs patient assessments for response to therapy.
- Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.
- Knowledge of respiratory care therapeutics and oxygen therapy and all related equipment.
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must demonstrate high level of discretion, integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in activities.
- Ability to present in pleasant professional manner for effective communications.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required
- Current enrollment in 2nd year of Accredited Respiratory Program Required
- Two (2) years of learning/education/experience in the respiratory field Five (5) years of responsible work experience in physician office practice supervision and management, preferably in a multi-physician practice setting, or a closely related field is required.
- Basic Life Support Certification Required
- IN Respiratory Student License Required
Overview
Under direct supervision of the designated preceptor (charge therapist), to perform work involving the delivery of direct patient care in the areas of Respiratory Therapy.

EDUCATION
All post high school education must have been obtained from a recognized College or University. Additional education or experience may be substituted requirements on a year for year basis should the substitution not conflict with State or Board certification/license requirements.
