Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a a Retail Accounting Supervisor (2 positions) on a permanent basis at our Home Office in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

What you’ll do:

You will lead a team comprised of Senior Accountants, Accounting Technicians, and Accounting Clerks who are responsible for providing full cycle accounting services to local cooperatives. You will lead the retail accounting team through the yearend process to ensure that Financial Statements are presented in accordance with ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises).

• Retail Accounting Services
  • You will lead team members to meet customer expectations efficiently and effectively in providing full cycle accounting services. You will oversee the remittance of all retail withholding taxes, sales taxes, corporate tax, and any other regulatory remittances; ensure they are submitted to the proper agencies by the required due date
  • You will work with BAs to determine annual retail needs and expectations and manage accordingly to ensure retail expectations and service levels are met during the 13-period cycle, communicate when expectations won’t be met, and communicate any corrective action being taken or action required by the retail to help meet these expectations
• Lead Year End Process
  • You will oversee the preparation of corporate tax returns to ensure that all items are accounted for on the schedule of adjustments and that any tax is remitted in the timeframe allowed by provincial and federal governments
  • You will oversee the preparation of working papers to ensure that financial statements, for assigned retails, are accurate and there are no material misstatements. You will be responsible for reviewing retail member allocations to ensure all active accounts are accurately receiving patronage
• Human Resources
  • You will prepare team’s yearly plan and budget for approval within the Business Unit and operate the team within these approved parameters including hiring and development of team members
• Professional Guidance & Process Improvement
  • You will collaborate with Zone Finance and Control Managers to provide system, as well as provide guidance and recommendations on accounting standards to all retails.

• You have a Bachelor of Commerce, Majoring in Accounting.
• You have a minimum of 6-9 years of relevant progressively responsible experience. (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
• You have the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation

• You believe in collaboration, building relationships and value the perspectives of others.
