      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Conduct independent examinations of financial records for taxpayers with unique audit features
      - Perform complex and specialized audits, ensuring compliance with tax laws
      - Justify and defend audit findings through comprehensive communication
      - Write detailed reports of examinations that propose adjustments based on findings
      - Investigate beyond tax returns to identify potential discrepancies in tax filings

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or related field with at least eighteen semester hours of accounting
      - One year of experience as a Field Auditor I or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
      - Demonstrated experience in performing independent examinations of sales and use tax or complex corporate returns
      - Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal tax issues, auditing, and accounting principles
      - Experience justifying and defending audit findings, particularly for large complex taxpayers

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience working with Fortune 500 companies
      - Familiarity with computer-assisted/statistical sample auditing techniques
      - Expertise in various accounting systems, including those specific to certain industries
      - Additional certifications in accounting or auditing
      - Previous experience in a government or public sector auditing role
