What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Audit medical records to identify missed charges, incorrect coding, and inconsistencies affecting billing
- Perform root cause analyses and report findings related to coding discrepancies and billing opportunities
- Retrieve missing patient documentation and complete coding of unbilled records
- Prepare reports and executive summaries for educational purposes and presentations
- Conduct pre-payment audits to ensure compliance with billing documentation
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum 3 years of coding experience
- Must have and maintain an approved coding credential through AAPC or AHIMA
- Must obtain at least one additional certification (CANPC or CPMA) within 1 year of employment
- Extensive knowledge of medical billing software, electronic medical records, and CMS requirements
- Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft 365 and Excel proficiency with basic formulas and pivot tables
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous coding experience within Anesthesia or General Surgery
- Familiarity with clinical documentation compliance and regulatory requirements
