      A career in our Executive Reward consulting practice, part of REMchannel’s Remconsulting team, will give you the opportunity to develop highly valuable skills and experience relating to the niche area of reward consulting, but also give you wide exposure to business strategy and executive leadership of top South African companies across many different industries.
      The Executive Reward team is an externally focused consulting team, which helps clients (including listed JSE companies, privately held companies, private equity firms, etc) set their remuneration strategies to support their business strategy, with a focus on executive pay. A lot of the work involves designing incentive structures (whether short-term or ‘bonus’ schemes, or long-term ‘share’ schemes).
      As you will join the section of the team which has a legal and governance focus, your focus will be more on legalistic tasks, but you will be expected to consult across the full spectrum of executive reward.
      This is an exciting opportunity to build your business understanding and use your legal skills in a creative and technically challenging way!
      This position is 100% remote, but we prefer a candidate who is located in Johannesburg or Cape Town (but will consider candidates located elsewhere). Please note that you may be required to attend physical client meetings and on occasion be required in the office.

      • Reviewing remuneration structures and making recommendations for more strategically appropriate or market-aligned structures or schemes
      • Reviewing or assisting with the drafting of remuneration reports which form part of integrated reports
      • Legal or legalistic drafting (including formal documentation for schemes, or other internal company policies)
      • Researching and consulting to clients on legal/regulatory compliance with regard to share plans and other remuneration related aspects
      • Research on technical and topical issues connected to executive reward and incentives, and related remuneration or governance matters
      • Providing support with the management of client relationships;
      • Project managing client engagements and ensuring deadlines are met;
      • Administrative tasks including billing and cost-management.
      • Attending client meetings – virtually and where required, in person;
      • Research and data collection;
      • Assisting with the preparation of thought leadership and research papers

      Job Requirements

      • Admitted Attorneys highly preferable.
      • Legal degree is required, BCom LLB, HDip Tax, or LLM in tax or commercial law would be highly desirable.
      • At least 3 years of full-time working experience required
      • 2 to 5+ years of contractual / commercial / labour law or commercial tax experience
      • Excellent communication skills, internally and with clients
      • Advanced Word & PowerPoint skills
      • Extreme attention to detail is non-negotiable
      • Time management and being able to work under pressure
      • Learning mindset and ability to take feedback and continuously improve
      • Problem-solving (consulting) mindset and ability to think strategically, as well as logically
      • Superior analytical ability and ability to make compelling, well-reasoned arguments
      • Excellent technical research skills which build on a background of solid legal training
      • Professional client manner
      • Good basic understanding of commerce
      • A certain base standard of numerical ability is expected.

      The appointment will be made from the designated group in line with the Employment Equity Plan of Old Mutual Limited and the specific Business Unit.
