Bon Secours Mercy Health offers selected nursing students the opportunity to gain clinical competence and ease the transition from student to professional through a special summer program.
During the Nurse Externship Program, students are assigned to preceptors who are experienced Registered Nurses chosen for their excellence in practice. Externs participate in a number of clinical experiences and attend special seminars designed to enhance their practice. Externs are assigned to areas that match their personal interests and will complete clinical rotations.
Extern opportunities are available at the following facilities in the Richmond, VA market:
The Bon Secours Mercy Health Summer Nurse Externship Program is an eight-week, summer program that runs from June 3, 2024 - July 26, 2024.
Externs are expected to work the designated schedule with an assigned preceptor, following their preceptor's work schedule.
Externs are also expected to attend all required educational experiences.
The application deadline for all sessions is March 1, 2024. Notification of acceptance will be made in March-April.
The Summer Nurse Externship Program is very selective as there are more applicants than available externships.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify for the Summer Nurse Externship Program, students must:
1. Attend an accredited RN school of nursing.
2. Complete junior-level studies of the Nursing Program.
3. Commit to the entire summer program.
