      JOB BRIEF (PURPOSE)

This role will provide second line support and strategic oversight of the operating/control environment, including but not limited to product delivery, change management, engineering, operations, contact center, integration of strategic partnerships, third party oversight (e.g., servicing, partnerships), and testing. This role will also provide second line support and oversight on regulatory exams, including consultation on remediation action plans. The ideal candidate possesses inter-disciplinary risk expertise and broad end-to-end consumer experience in product, marketing, originations, operations, and servicing. This role will work closely with business leaders in product, operations, servicing, marketing, and engineering to promote an operating environment and oversight model that is commensurate with the risk, complexity, and pace of change within the business while enabling an organizational culture of operational excellence and sound profitable growth.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

      – Through a deep understanding of the end-to-end business processes, strategy and associated risks, provide second line oversight of the operating environment, including product delivery, change management, engineering, operations, contact center, strategic partnerships, third party oversight (e.g., servicing, partnerships), and testing
      – Provide effective review and challenge of risks, controls, assessments, and testing, considering scalability, sustainability, opportunities for automation, and innovation solutions (e.g., RegTech) for higher risk processes
      – Engage with regulatory agencies, in regulatory and internal audit exams, and advise on remediation efforts/control enhancements that enable sound risk management and business agility
      – Engage in/lead enterprise and/or strategic risk initiatives impacting the business, as applicable
      – Build relationships and work cross functionally across business partners in Laurel Road and Key, Risk Management, Business Risk and Controls, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the operating environment
      – Evaluate and monitor metrics (e.g., KRIs), partnering with the business to ensure comprehensive measurement of key risk indicators
      – Understand, engage, and perform effective review and challenge on material business process changes, third party relationships, new, modified, expanded product approval, strategic initiatives, and critical programs
      – Develop and implement end to end oversight practices with business partners commensurate with the risk, complexity, and pace of change as expansion of the business and partnerships occurs
      – Lead risk oversight of integration efforts of strategic initiatives and partnerships, as applicable
      – Partner with compliance and other risk discipline partners in consideration of processes and/or deficiencies that have inter-disciplinary risk implications
      – Monitor adherence to policies and procedures, promoting an operating environment and oversight model that is commensurate with the risk, complexity, and pace of change within the business while enabling an organizational culture of operational excellence and sound profitable growth
      – Proactively advises front line business units on applicable risk standards, including keeping current with developments in the applicable regulatory guidance, requirements, standards and industry practices
      – Evaluates and monitors changes in business processes necessary to meet regulatory changes and mitigate risk exposure to Key and Laurel Road, taking into consideration peer practices and reducing undue complexity
      – Conducts review and challenge activities and escalation, including independent testing, as required
      – Proactively reviews and evaluates risk reporting (metrics, loss events, findings, remediation plans, complaints, etc.), internal and external research, including leveraging peer benchmarks to identify current and emerging risk issues – partnering with the business to ensure effective response strategies to address identified risks/gaps.
      – Assesses the appropriateness of and works with business partners where appropriate on developing and/or enhancing internal procedures and guidelines to comply with corporate Risk appetite, tolerances and policies
      – Works closely with executives of other major risk category executives (e.g., Credit, Compliance, Market, Model, Reputation, and Strategic) and 1st LOD to ensure an effective risk culture
      – Work with the business and other corporate initiatives to reduce operational losses
      – Collaborates with business and Quantitative Risk Analysis on risk related stress testing, development and maintenance of effective scenarios and models, as applicable.
      – Oversees and/or conducts training to enhance organizational understanding of the Enterprise Risk framework (e.g., risk domains, programs, risk identification, control design, etc.)
      – Escalates promptly to appropriate senior management any material breaches of policies, laws, or standards with actual or potential risk impact, and necessary correction action.
      – Effectively manages team members, ensuring employee engagement, sound direction, active coaching and development, and performance management
      – Engages in industry roundtables/consortiums and actively builds an external network
      – Participate in periodic assignments related to emerging risks

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

      – Bachelor’s Degree required
      – 12-15+ years of work experience in financial services risk management roles

      – Minimum 5+ years of direct management in a leadership role

      – Must have a blend of Operational Risk AND Consumer Compliance

      – Must have experience in a 2nd line Oversight Function from a large bank

      – Must have Regulatory Advisory Experience

      –Must understand the requirements of a large bank and understand other risk structures
      – Has a passion for the business and the overall success of the bank
      – Strong ability to link business goals with risk strategies
      – Ability to work closely with a diverse/cross functional group and influence behaviors to achieve desired results.
      – Broad knowledge and understanding of risks and controls
      – Strong leadership and organizational skills
      – Strong problem-solving, negotiation and influencing skills
      – Experience with managing enterprise level projects involving multiple stakeholders
