      Department/Position: RN Admitting Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry

      Status: Full TimeTime (36 hrs/wk)

      Shift: 10:00am-10:30pm (2-Holiday Rotation)

      Overview:

      Responsible and accountable for assessing and participating in the planning of care for the peri-operative patient through the services offered in the pre-admission screening program. Responsible for gathering health information from each surgical patient who registers into the facility the day of procedure. Accountable for evaluating information provided and planning patients pre-operative preparation needs appropriately. Prepares each patient in a timely manner, following all hospital policies, procedures and standards of care. Assures proper communication is given to the appropriate surgical team member for special patient needs. Maintains competent nursing skill level to ensure provision of safe quality patient care. The RN assures that the philosophy, mission, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of Mercy Hospital are followed. Is sensitive to the needs of patients, families and fellow co-workers; plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with age specific needs; plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with any identified cultural diversity needs (such as religions, lifestyles, beliefs, physical capabilities, and cultures); plans and provides professional nursing care for patients by assuring appropriate and effective pain management; assess, report, and assist any patients that present with evidence of abuse and/or neglect; and supports the mission of Mercy Hospital. Co-workers are expected to abide by safety and infection control policies to maintain a safe environment for patients and co-workers.


      Qualifications:

      • Education : Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
      • Licensure : Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
      • Physical requirements/demands : Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
      • Experience: Must have 2 or more years inpatient hospital experience
      • Certifications :
      • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
      • BLS (Basic Life Support) or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
      • Other unit specific certifications as required or or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe.
