What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide clinically based concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient medical records to evaluate the utilization and documentation of acute care services
- Promote a partnership between concurrent clinical reviews, medical record coders, and physicians to improve documentation and reimbursement
- Facilitate clarification and specificity to clinical documentation through appropriate interaction with physicians
- Analyze patient status, treatment plans, and identify gaps in physician documentation
- Support the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting outcomes
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing required
- Minimum of five (5) years recent clinical experience in an acute care setting required
- Minimum of three (3) years recent experience performing Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) reviews in an inpatient acute care setting required
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California required
- Current certification(s) for Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Clinical Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) required
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of CDI review experience in an inpatient acute care setting preferred
- Additional licensure/certification of one or more of the following: CCDS-O, CCS, RHIT
