- Essential Function
- Communicates effectively with students, supervisors and Staff Education prior to, during, and after the course.
- Reserves rooms and equipment for the event. Prepares classroom, handouts and equipment. Cleans area and equipment post course.
- Utilizes the required materials, and develops new materials as appropriate
- Teaches the course according to the established curriculum, covering all course objectives.
- At times, works with other instructors as a part of a team.
- Assigns and grades classwork, tests and assignments.
- Assesses student learning needs. Fairly and accurately evaluates student performance in all domains: cognitive affective and skills. Provides effective feedback and remediation. Works with the student and Staff Education if there are concerns in performance (example: if student is unable to complete criteria to pass the course). Reports issues concerning students need for work place modification as appropriate.
- Utilizes technology to support instruction. Examples: PowerPoint, computer, projector, cardiac monitor.
- Maintains accurate and complete documentation, submitting to staff education and other entities as required in a timely fashion.
- Manages classroom milieu in a professional helpful and timely manner. Keeps class on track to achieve course goals and provide meaningful education.
- Follows HR, Employee Health and Infection Prevention policies and procedures regarding student participation.
- Attends all instructor meetings and updates.
- Mentors new instructors.
- Keeps current with new developments and information regarding the subject. Knows and applies hospital policies as they pertain to the topic. Incorporates pertinent regulatory and legal information as needed.
- Conducts self and class in a professional and ethical manner, including Appearance, attitude and behavior. Maintains confidentiality regarding students, and in all matters discussed in the classroom. Demonstrates the Augusta Health values and the components of the Augusta Way in all facets of the instructor role.
Help prepare the next generation of LPNs for Augusta Health and the surrounding community.
The instructor is responsible for planning, preparing and delivering instructional activities to small and large groups of students, as well as performing associated administrative tasks.
Education Requirements
Specific education preparation related to the course or program to be conducted.
RN license required, BSN preferred
Experience Requirements
Previous teaching and instruction experience highly recommended.
