Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center.       Job Summary:

      Responsible for the pre and post operative/procedure care for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with a variety of health care needs and disease processes. Care includes technical skills, equipment, assessment, pre and post education and discharge in a fast paced environment. Minimum of one year experience in pre and post op diagnostic cath lab preferred. This position is represented by CNA.

      Job Requirements:

      Education and Work Experience:

      • Associate Degree(A.S.) or equivalent: Required
      • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing: Preferred
      • Completion of a basic cardiac arrhythmia class with passing score: Required
      • Minimum 6 months experience in medical surgical nursing in last 2 years: Preferred
      • Minimum of one year experience in pre and post op diagnostic cath lab: Preferred

      Licenses/Certifications:

      • Current RN license in state of practice: Required
      • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
      • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Required
      • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification: Required
      • Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required
      • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream Advanced Cardiac Life Support (HS-ACLS) or RQIACLS: Required

      Essential Functions:

      • Identifies common recurrent patient problems, symptoms and behavioral changes using standards of care 95% of the time. Recognizes symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress or other impending emergencies 100% of the time.
      • Demonstrates the knowledge/skill in the care of patients during post operative phase two recovery. Accurately interprets ECG rhythm and manages care of patients during life threatening emergencies in populations served. Demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and application, able to make recommendations for best monitoring based on patient presentation. Understands and follows chain of command per policy.
      • Reviews medical history, physical examination, nursing care plan and all available assessment data 95% of the time. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports it to the appropriate person 95% of the time. Delegates patient care tasks to ancillary personnel based on individual competency and scope of practice. Evaluates effectiveness of care performed.
      • Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal oriented care plan for each pt in collaboration with members of the health care team and provides care based on that plan. Educates patients and/or their families regarding care. Uses teaching methods appropriate to the age, condition, culture, and assessed learning-readiness of the patient.
      • Completes legible, accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care provided, including evaluation of patient's response to medications, treatments & procedures. Consistently performs necessary unit specific safety & quality control checks (i.e. Shift and 24hr MD order checks, VO/TO Read Back, crash cart checks, urine QC, refrig logs & outdate checks).
      • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
