      Department Overview:

      Devils Lake Climbing Guides is a professional rock climbing guide service and outdoor adventure school. We enjoy a talented, personable and inspiring staff who work hard to provide exceptional experiences for our clients. We teach and climb exclusively in single-pitch terrain, mostly in Devil’s Lake State Park.

      9 to 40

      Schedule:

      We are hiring for both part and full time seasonal positions. Our season runs approximately late April through mid-October. Though start and end times can be flexible, we prioritze folks with availability from May 20th through August 25th.

      Schedule is dependent upon your role. Our typical climbing trips run from 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM with some time on either side for anchor setting, preparation, cleanup, and debrief. Our summer climbing camps run overnight from Sunday afternoon through Friday evenings.

      Salary/Wage Range:

      Lump Sum $130.00 to $330.00

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      Instructors facilitate our variety of climbing trips, courses, and camps in accordance with their experience and training, including:

      • Client outfitting and orientation
      • Traditional anchor setting
      • Discuss, learn, develop client goals through tailored curriculum under the direction of the Lead instructor
      • Belay instruction and supervision, or technical instruction as per course
      • Proactively identify, communicate, and manage risks
      • Maintain personal and company equipment
      • Learn local terrain and improve technical and movement skills in personal time

      We're hiring Apprentice, Assistant, and Lead Rock Climbing Instructors to facilitate rock climbing trips, courses, and camps during the 2024 season. Our three instructor classifications are based on experience and credentials. Both part and full time positions are available in all classes for the 2024 season.       Apprentice Instructor - Proficient top-rope belayer. Comfortable in an outdoor rock climbing environment.

      Assistant Instructor - Can build traditional climbing anchors. WFR & AMGA SPI course preferred, but not required.

      Lead Instructor - Previous outdoor climbing instruction experience. WFR & AMGA SPI certifications

      Physical Demands

      Ability to hike approximately 20 minutes up steep grades with pack of approximately 40lbs.
