What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review requestor information and determine records to be released in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Obtain patient data from various sources, including electronic, off-site, or physical records
- Answer phone calls and respond to walk-in customers requesting medical records
- Process requests from physician offices on a priority basis and fax information as needed
- Log medical record requests and scan records into the database
- Comply with site facility policies and regulations
- Handle and record cash payments for requests at specified sites
- Perform other assigned duties

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Proficiency in using computer applications and entering data into computer systems
- Experience using the internet
- Ability to work independently and meet production goals
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Proven track record of dependability
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Prior work experience in Release of Information in a physician’s office or HIM Department is a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations is preferred
