Registrar of Voters (ROV) is recruiting for a resourceful and keen ROV Office Specialist* who performs administrative clerical support work including payroll, fiscal calculations and transactions, and coordination of temporary staff programs. The mission of the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters is to conduct the County’s elections in a fair, accessible, secure, transparent, and efficient manner, upholding the highest level of election standards and accuracy, while always providing excellent customer service to both our team and the diverse population we serve.
The Registrar of Voters also performs all voter registration functions, including the storing and maintaining of voter registration records, administering all local, state, and federal elections managing voting systems and equipment, performing election ballot processing and vote tallying, training of poll workers, and providing voting-related services to voters, elected officials, campaign groups, and other community stakeholders.
Conducting elections is both exciting and challenging. Attention to detail is critical, and working as a team is vital to accomplishing successful elections. Permanent staff, seasonal staff, and volunteers assist in the variety of complex tasks required to conduct elections. The Registrar of Voters believes that a successful team is a partnership - one that contains the following elements:
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTPre-Employment Process: Applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam, prior to appointment.Work Schedule: During peak election periods the Registrar of Voters' staff are required to work a significant amount of overtime, which includes evenings, weekends (both Saturdays and Sundays) and early morning/very late hours on election day/night.
Travel throughout the County: Employees will be required to provide their own transportation, and mileage reimbursement is available. At the time of hire, a valid California driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider to candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
*Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Realignment Sales Tax Collections performance.EXPERIENCETwo (2) year s full-time experience performing complex clerical tasks in an office environment. Experience must be comparable to duties performed by a clerical lead worker and/or supervisor, fiscal assistant, or other office work which is non-routine in nature and requires exercising independent decision-making.
Experience must be clearly described on the application and must include performing a variety of clerical tasks including public contact and computer usage.
Qualifying experience is typically equivalent to the San Bernardino County Office Assistant III classification and above.
