      Overview

A warm and loving family in Greenwich, CT is seeking a full-time, experienced, and highly dedicated educator/nanny to provide one-on-one care for their 8-year-old son, who has recently been diagnosed with a combination of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). This is a specialized, child-focused role where the ideal candidate brings not only patience and structure but also a deep understanding of the emotional and behavioral support a child with ODD requires. The family employs a second nanny to care for their two daughters (ages 13 and 10), so this position is entirely focused on their son- a sweet natured non-aggressive kid who has a hard time self regulating and is controlling. The Nanny will work in close partnership with the stay-at-home mother, maintaining consistent communication and collaboratively navigating daily routines and behavioral strategies.

The ideal candidate is patient, nurturing, positive, and well-versed in behavioral support strategies—ideally with current CT Special Education Teacher Certification (#065). Must be organized, proactive, and flexible, with a strong moral compass, and a passion for working with children who need extra care and structure.

      Schedule:

      Monday through Thursday from 2pm – 9pm

      Fridays from 10:30am – 9pm

This is a long-term, live-out role for a dedicated professional who is passionate about helping children navigate complex emotions and behaviors with love, consistency, and skill.

      Responsibilities

      • Provide one-on-one emotional and behavioral support throughout the day, using consistent and compassionate communication
      • Engage the child with educational, creative, and outdoor activities, with an emphasis on cognitive and emotional growth, and self-regulation skills
      • Implement behavioral management tools and de-escalation techniques aligned with professional guidance and parental input
      • Support daily routines including transitions, hygiene, meals, school pickups, and bedtime with consistence, and structure
      • Implement and adapt behavior management strategies and identify areas for positive intervention
      • Maintain detailed ongoing communication with the parents about behaviors, challenges, and progress
      • Manage child’s daily schedule including school pickups, activities, and appointments
      • Provide clear, frequent communication and collaboration with parents
      • Prepare meals and tidy up after child-related activities and meals
      • Travel with the family domestically and internationally, supporting the child through routine disruptions with structure and preparation

      Qualifications

      • CT Special Education Teacher Certification (#065) or certifiability
      • Experience specifically working with children with ADHD, ODD or emotional/behavioral differences
      • Excellent, verifiable references from families or schools
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team (this individual will work closely with all members of the family as well as multiple other household employees)
      • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
      • Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable to last-minute changes
      • Team player with a kind, warm, and collaborative nature
      • Willingness to be flexible with scheduling, including occasional evenings or travel support

      Requirements

      • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
      • Valid U.S. Passport and willingness to travel
      • CPR and First Aid certification preferred
      • Ability to swim
