      Where you'll be working
      Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region.       What you'll be doing
      The Safe Start/Perinatal Infant Mental Health Service (PIMHS) Clinician will be based within the Western Sydney Local Health District Mental Health Services and will be a member of an LHD-wide PIMHS team.


      The Safe Start/PIMHS clinician will facilitate the antenatal and postnatal Safe Start inter-professional case discussion and referral pathways. PIMHS clinicians provide intensive mental health care, short term care coordination and consultation for a woman/primary caregiver of an infant up to 2 years of age, and who have severe and complex mental health concerns. Mental health care will be provided alongside existing mental health services and in partnership with other services and organisations.

      Essential Requirements:

      1. Qualification: Approved post graduate nursing or midwifery experience relevant to the field. Post graduate qualifications in a clinical health field such as Clinical Psychology, Social Work or Occupational Therapy.
      2. Registration: Current Registration to practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife, Psychologist or Occupational Therapist. Social Worker should have eligibility to be a member of AASW.

      Selection Criteria:

      1. For CNC/CMC Role: Registered Nurse or Midwife who has at least 5 years full time post registration experience and approved post registration nursing qualification (in relevant field) such as perinatal, child, youth and/adult mental health.
      2. Demonstrated experience in working with parents and families with infants experiencing severe and complex psychosocial and psychiatric problems in the perinatal period with demonstrated knowledge of the impact of mental health problems and mental illness in parenting, parent-infant relationship, and infant development.
      3. Experience working in collaboration across a variety of services.
      4. Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and experience in clinical teaching.
      5. Demonstrated knowledge of computerised information systems and proven ability to utilise research / quality improvement strategies to effect changes in clinical practice.
      6. Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
      7. Capacity to act as an independent consultant with excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
      8. Current driver's licence valid in Australia
